Thomas Bennett, the judge who oversaw the $4.1 billion bankruptcy of Jefferson County, Ala., has retired from the court and taken a job at a law firm, the latest retirement in a noticeable judicial exodus.

Mr. Bennett, 66 years old, joined Bailey Glasser LLP as a partner last month, bringing his expertise in municipal bankruptcy, mediation and complex commercial litigation. He plans to work out of the firm’s Washington, D.C., office.

Sarah Frankel has launched the525group, a recruitment firm for professional services firms in the bankruptcy and restructuring industry. Ms. Frankel, a board adviser at the International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation, has also been on the board of the Turnaround Management Association. She has experience as a business development adviser.
