Since approximately 1956, the Provenzano Family has been in the food retail business since Mike Provenzano Sr. joined Market Basket, which was subsequently acquired by Kroger. In 1982, Mike Provenzano Sr. bought the first grocery store in Southern California. In approximately 1992, Michael Provenzano Jr. and his son, Michael Provenzano, III conceived the Hispanic-store concept with a remodel of the first Southern California store. In approximately 1997, Pro’s Ranch Markets opened grocery stores in Arvin and Delano in Central California. In approximately 2002, Pro’s Ranch Markets entered the Phoenix, Arizona market followed by market locations in New Mexico and West Since 1982, the Debtors have continuously been in the grocery store business for more than 30 years. The Debtors collectively and currently operate 11 grocery stores commonly known as Pro’s Ranch Markets catering to a variety of ethnically diverse customers and Mexican-American shoppers in the Southwest commonly known as Pro’s Ranch Markets. There are 7 stores in the Phoenix, Arizona area, one store located in Albuquerque, one store located in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and 2 stores located in El Paso, Texas. In addition, there is a warehouse and distribution facility in Phoenix as well as Ontario, California.
