Alvin F. Benton Jr. has joined law firm Dorf & Nelson in the litigation department. Mr. Benton has experience in debt restructurings, receiverships and other bankruptcy matters, and he also has experience in business and real-estate litigation. He earned his law degree from Florida A&M University College of Law.

Eli Columbus, Matt Ferris and Frasher Murphy have joined the Dallas office of law firm Haynes and Boone. The trio, who come from the Winstead firm, will be partners in the bankruptcy group. Mr. Columbus, who was chairman of Winstead’s bankruptcy group, focuses on business bankruptcies and out-of-court restructurings. Mr. Ferris has advised lenders, debtor, creditors and others, and he has worked in bankruptcy litigation. Mr. Murphy most recently was the chairman of his firm’s turnaround and workout industry group, and he mostly works on complex chapter 11 cases.

Deborah A. Reperowitz has joined law firm McGlinchey Stafford and will be a member in the commercial litigation group. Ms. Reperowitz, a bankruptcy mediator, has represented clients in commercial litigation, business restructuring and bankruptcy. She is president elect and a board member of the Turnaround Management Association in New York. She has served as mediator in the Dewey & LeBoeuf and Bernard Madoff liquidations.
