According to the Seattle TechFlash, RPX Corp. is launching a "defensive patent aggregation." This is essentially a capital pool used for purchasing patents from bankrupt companies to keep them out of the hands of patent trolls. Supported by large companies like IBM and Cisco, and venture capital firms like Charles River Ventures, RPX Corp. hopes to reduce the impact of patent trolls by limiting their access to loose patents.
