Bruegger's on Central Avenue in Albany closes  Times Union

Albany Bruegger's Bagels at 900 Central Ave. in Albany closed on Monday after 21 years of operation. Bruegger's announced two years ago that it was selling 28 of its upstate stores, including a dozen Capital Region locations, as part of a franchisee's bankruptcy reorganization plan. The bagel chain's largest franchisee, Flour City Bagels of Rochester, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2016. Bruegger's still has about nine local stores, including its very first location, on Congress Street in Troy.
