Disputing Items On Your Credit Report

09/19/12

I follow a blog called The Points Guy because he informs readers of incentive reward programs for new credit cards and recommends the best credit cards for different consumer needs. His blog occasionally reports on credit scoring as it affects people’s ability to get new credit cards.

Last week The Points Guy had an interesting post about how people can challenge items posted on their credit reports. Last year he had an even better post about how your credit score works. Bankruptcy clients frequently ask me credit questions such as, how will Chapter 7 bankruptcy affect their credit or whether bankruptcy is worse for credit scores than foreclosure. Credit scores are not a legal issue, and credit is not even a bankruptcy issue. My information about credit scores comes from reading blog post and from asking questions of people in the banking industry.

I recommend that you check out The Points Guy’s post for information about contesting mistakes on your credit report and rehabilitating credit after bankruptcy.
