One thing to be aware of is you cannot file a Chapter 7 bankruptcy within eight years of a prior case.  Thus, you want to be careful that you do not fall into the same types of traps that led you into bankruptcy in the first place.  For example, if you are someone who has cause to file a bankruptcy due to high medical bills, you want to make sure that you have some type of medical insurance in place so that if anything catastrophic happens again or if you have a recurring illness that happens again, you have some protection, you have some coverage.

If you are someone who overcharged and over purchased because of impulse buying, you want to make sure that you do not purchase again on credit and that you do not purchase on impulse anymore.  You want to change your behavior so that you can save money and not spend money each month.  If you are somebody who got in trouble for driving without insurance, you want to make sure that you never let that insurance lapse again, because it could lead again to bankruptcy.  So you want to be careful going forward that you do smart things that you don’t fall back into debt again.
