One Court Date Required States Stone Park Bankruptcy Lawyer
Potential clients need to know that there’s going to be one court appearance that has to be taken with their attorney, and they’re going to meet in front of a trustee, which is a person appointed by the bankruptcy court to look over their case and to ask them certain questions under oath. What they’re going to ask is did they list all their assets, did they list all the people they owe money to, were they honest and truthful in answers to the questions on the Statement of Financial Affairs, and then the trustee’s going to ask for the client to identify their signature and maybe go into detail a little bit about the assets. If there’s a house, they might ask how they came up with the value. If they have a job, they might want to ask about what the typical pay is, if there’s any increase or decrease to expect within the next six months. The court appearance is not meant to be a harsh interrogation. It is more like a verification of the information that has been listed and sworn to in the petition.
