Homer Glen Bankruptcy Attorney Suggests Chapter 7

07/29/11

This is the case of Miss Wexler.  Miss Wexler is living in Homer Glen, Illinois.  She has never filed bankruptcy before.  She’s not a homeowner, and she’s not renting from anybody, so she’s living with family or friends.  She has a ’01 Ford Ranger financed through Ford Motor Credit.  It’s worth approximately $6,000.00 and she owes about the same, so she can decide to keep that vehicle as long as she makes her current monthly payments.  She’s single.  She has no dependent children.  She’s currently unemployed.  She expects to start work in a couple weeks, so depending on what that job is going to pay will determine whether or not she can continue to qualify for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy or not.

In terms of expenses, she’s got about $1,200.00 in expenses, so not too terrible.  Depending on what her job is, again, she might have the ability to repay some of her debt.  She might not.  Over the last few years, she’s averaged approximately $15,000.00 to $17,000.00 a year in income.  She does not receive any unemployment.  She did have a bank account that was closed, one at Chase and one at WaMu, and that is for overdraft fees.  She did have a couple prior addresses (Crest Hill, Illinois, and Lockport, Illinois).  She has not owned a business.  No co-debtors.

She does owe for student loans, $24,000.00 worth of student loans that will not go away, but she has a ton of credit card debt that I would like to see eliminated if we can for her.  The City of Joliet, Illinois, Northstar Capital, Comcast, a lot of dental, medical, credit card – all the miscellaneous things that can cause a lot of problems.  The approximate fee for a case like this would be $1,700.00 over time, and I highly recommend a Chapter 7 for Miss Wexler.
