I love helping people get out of debt.  That’s why I chose this area of law.  It happened when I was early in my career.  I was doing divorces, and I was doing bankruptcy. I was basically doing two areas for low-income people that were underserved in the community, and that’s how I developed into this practice.  So I knew right away these people need help, and I had empathy.  I cared.  I wanted to make a difference.  I wanted to see people get a good result.  So you have to go into the consultation with an open mind, no time restriction, not thinking about the business end.  You want to first get to know the person and get to know what their problem is and to see if you can help them.  Once you can help them, you want to know everything about the law so you can prepare the right documents and put them in the right chapter.
