Calumet Park Bankruptcy Attorney Separates Himself From The Others

08/19/11

A qualified bankruptcy attorney is going to know the different timelines and the different deadlines, the different procedures and the different processes to make sure the debtor is going to find success through their case.  For example, I personally will not file a bankruptcy case until I actually see the credit counseling certificate proving the debtor has taken the class.  There are many debtors that will tell you they took the class when in reality they may not have finished the class.

On more than one occasion, I’ve had to contact the credit counseling agency to find out if the debtor has completed the class only to find out they started the class and did not finish the class.  I want to make sure someone has completed the class.  I want to see the actual certificate showing they completed the pre-filing credit counseling requirement.

The actual credit counseling is not a difficult process, but for some people who are not used to using the computer or who don’t have the ability to take it in person, it could be difficult.

There are many bankruptcy attorneys who can help a person file a chapter 7 bankruptcy.  There is no shortage of attorneys who are advertizing low fees, high fees, midrange fees, free consultations, first consultation with a fee – the variety is widespread.  What I like to do to separate myself from other bankruptcy attorneys is to educate my clients and potential clients as much as possible about the procedure.

I feel an educated client, a person who knows what’s going on and what to expect, and what is expected of them is going to be a better client for me, as well as they’re going to have a better experience through the bankruptcy process.  Nobody wants to file a bankruptcy case.  Nobody gets up in the morning and says, “You know what I’m going to do today?  I’m going to contact an attorney and file for bankruptcy.  It sounds like a cool thing to do.”
