Father and Daughter Convicted in Bankruptcy Fraud Scheme to Conceal ...
A jury in the Northern District of California returned guilty verdicts against a father and daughter on several bankruptcy fraud related counts. Trial evidence revealed that Goyko Kuburovich devised a scheme to defraud the bankruptcy court for the purpose of concealing certain cash and real property assets. He then engaged in certain financial transactions involving his daughter, Kristel, in order to execute the scheme. When Goyko filed a bankruptcy petition he failed to disclose those assets to the trustee or bankruptcy court. By returning a guilty verdict, the jury determined that Goyko concealed approximately $870,000 in assets while obtaining a discharge of more than $2.5 million in debt. Goyko was convicted of one count of bankruptcy fraud (157(1), one count of concealing assets (152(1)) and one count of making a false statements in a bankruptcy proceeding (152(3)). Kristel was convicted of one count of concealing assets (152(1)) and acquitted of the bankruptcy fraud charge (157(1)).
