Private equity firm Blackstone Group LP won an auction for a Texas power plant earlier this week with $126 million offer—and then tried to take it back.

Energy Future Holdings Corp. insiders took nearly $46 million out of the company in the 12 months leading up to its April 29 bankruptcy filing, new court records show.

The owner of popular Capitol Hill eating spots like Hawk ‘n’ Dove, Senart’s Oyster House and The Chesapeake Room heads to court today for its first bankruptcy appearance.

The restaurant operator has a 2 p.m. hearing in front of Bankruptcy Judge S. Martin Teel Jr., where it will ask for permission to continue paying its roughly 200 workers while the company figures out a survival plan.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Centerbridge Partners LP reached a tentative deal to buy LightSquared out of Chapter 11, possibly trumping a bid by Dish Network Corp.

Vintner Richard Sanford may have found the ingredient that will keep the wine flowing at his Alma Rosa Winery & Vineyards: EnCap Investments LP’s Robert Zorich.

Mr. Zorich has offered to purchase the Santa Ynez Valley, Calif., property for $1.7 million in a deal that would allow Mr. Sanford and his wife, Thekla, to continue living and producing wine there as employees. The sale would be tested during an auction next month.

Neither Mr. Sanford nor Mr. Zorich responded to request for comment.
