Coal Miner Alpha Natural Resources Files For Bankruptcy

Alpha Natural Resources Inc., one of the largest U.S. coal producers, filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Monday to cut its more than $3 billion debt load, The Wall Street Journal reported. The Bristol, Va., company will likely sell some of its best mines or turn them over to creditors.

Anchorage Group to Lead Bidding on Relativity Media at Bankruptcy Auction

Several of Relativity Media LLC’s largest creditors have joined together in a stalking horse bid for the Hollywood studio that would see the exit of its founder and chief executive, said people familiar with the matter.

Anchorage Capital Group LLC, Luxor Capital Group LP and Falcon Investment Advisors LLC are all part of an offer that will set the minimum floor as bidding for the studio, which on Thursday filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy, begins soon.

G Street Fabrics Files for Bankruptcy Sew It Can Survive

G Street Fabrics, an icon from downtown Washington, D.C.,’s department-store era that later fled to the suburbs, is planning to trim its store count using bankruptcy protection.

The retailer, which filed for bankruptcy in June blaming slow sales of its fabrics, will keep open its flagship store in Rockville, Md.—its busiest location. But officials are preparing to close its two other locations in Centreville and Falls Church by Labor Day weekend.
