Twitter Inc. Chief Operating Officer Anthony Noto has resigned to accept the role of chief executive officer at Social Finance Inc., according to both companies.

The San Francisco bank said that Michael Loughlin's departure is unrelated to the sales scandal that has dogged the company for the last 16 months.

MidSouth Bancorp in Lafayette, La., has appointed one of its regional executives to the newly created post of chief banking officer and moved to appoint a veteran turnaround banker to its board.

In adding Martin Pfinsgraff, until recently the OCC's deputy comptroller for large-bank supervision, and retired Air Force Brig. Gen. Linda Medler, a cybersecurity expert, the regional bank says it is trying to build a board with expertise in fields of timely interest.

After a six-month transition period, Mark Midkiff will succeed Bill Hartmann later this year.
