Texas College’s Collapse Puts Town’s Rodeo Venue in Play

The unexpected collapse of Lon Morris College has Jacksonville, Texas, reaching for the reins of the rodeo arena that it gave to the private, two-year college during the ambitious expansion that led to its downfall.

As an auctioneer prepares to sell off property left on the college’s 112-acre campus, Jacksonville leaders are trying to make sure that the rodeo grounds aren’t included. Instead, they want the property returned to the city, which deeded the property to the college in 2009.
