Edgenet Inc. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Tuesday in an effort to safeguard the planned sale of the company during a fight among creditors, who are battling over how to split up the proceeds. Read the Daily Bankruptcy Review article here.

Back in August, the Judicial Conference for the United States Courts released for comments proposed amendments to the Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure, including revisions to FRBP 5005 that will effectively limit the types of electronic signatures usable on court pleadings.

Currently, the relevant part of FRBP 5005 reads:

A parochial elementary school and high school were recently sued in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York by Robert Geltzer, a bankruptcy trustee.  The suits, Geltzer v. Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St. Benedicta School and Geltzer v. Xavarian High School, were brought in an effort to recover tuition payments made by a student’s parents who had later filed for bankruptcy.
