The Value of a Mobile Asset

On October 19, 2015, Judge Brendan L. Shannon issued an opinion defining the value of a “mobile” asset; in this case, a mobile home.  In an adversary proceeding Welch v. Sun National Bank, docketed as Adversary Case No. 14-50777, Judge Shannon issued a letter opinion analyzing the valuation appropriate for a mobile home (the “Opinion”).  A link to the Opinion is here.

Morning Scan: State Street, JPM Charging to Hold Deposits; Diebold in Merger Talks

First it was Swiss banks charging clients to hold their deposits. Now it's U.S. banks' turn. State Street for the first time has begun charging fees to hold some large dollar deposits, unnamed sources said. JPMorgan Chase has also started charging fees, helping it cut unwanted deposits by more than $150 billion this year. Unhappy Birthday, BAPCPA

BAPCPA's been in effect for 10 years now. I still remember the day before it went into effect, seeing round the block lines at the Wilmington courthouse as consumers rushed to file. 

There's lots to say about BAPCPA, for both consumers and businesses, but it boils down to this: it's not a fine wine and hasn't improved with age. The vinegar only gets more sour.
