Attorneys and Self-Represented Litigants alike should exercise great caution in submitting any language generated by Artificial Intelligence (AI) in filings before the Court.

Use of information or legal authority suggested by AI without verification of the accuracy of the information or legal authority is governed by Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 11 and Federal Rule of Bankruptcy Procedure 9011 ("Rule 11"). When an individual (including attorneys and self-represented parties) files a document with the Court, he or she is certifying there is a factual and legal basis to make the representations and legal argument in the document. The Court may punish violations of Rule 11 by imposing a sanction including without limitation a fine, a default judgment or other penalty.

The District Court has issued a "no tolerance" policy regarding filings that "hallucinates" or creates false legal propositions or otherwise severely misstates the law. Any filing containing inaccurate information generated by AI may result in sanctions absent reasonable excuse. See generally Barteca Holdings LLC v.
